Communism and Fascism vs Pacifism Essay
According to this piece of literature by Ardous Huxley, it is evident that he does not support fascism and communism. Instead, his opinion is that rather than embracing the two forms of governments, it is better to adopt pacifism. My opinion on the question of whether pacifism is an alternative to fascism and communism is positive. Huxley provides both the pros and cons of adopting either communism, fascism, or pacifism. The weight of his argument tends to favor pacifism.
Considering communism and fascism, Huxley submits that it leaves the majority of the citizens of a country very dissatisfied. Some citizens suffer more than others, and yet they are expected to be considered equal citizens. A lot of resources and funds are used for security purposes in the places where the fascism and communism are applied, and yet, the security that is highly sought is never achieved. The defense forces do no particularly perform constructive work, and they live at the expense of the citizens who work tirelessly to provide for their nations. Armoring a society so heavily will attract attacks and hence cause insecurity and danger to its citizens. The most effective way of provoking people to attack is by threatening them (Huxley par 3)
Where pacifism does not exist, injustices are bound to be inevitable. Governments force their citizens to do things which are morally wrong, and they have to comply because that is the system. In the event of refusal, the victims are punished a great deal since disobeying the government is a grave matter. The aspect has seen the persecution of many moralists as they vividly and candidly oppose what they view and perceive to be immoral. Some of them have succeeded in their crusades for revolution, and such are the people who have brought change to governance. The process of trying to bring peace through pacifism has been slow but sure. Only non-violence can produce non-violence (Huxley, 7)...................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
