Effects of Globalization Assignment

Globalization is the process through which governments, people, and companies of various countries interact. The process is fueled by trade and technology. Globalization has had legal, leadership, contracting, and social effects on civil society organizations.

The legal systems of countries determine how they react to the effects of globalization. Some governments such as Burma prefer remaining isolated from external influences. Other countries lay down measures which control the influence of non-governmental organizations. When governments allow the fuels of globalization such as travel, information, and trade, then the impacts of non-governmental organizations are more pronounced. The sharing of information about lifestyle and problems that constrain livelihoods allows NGOs to gather sufficient information for their operations. The government may be afraid of cultural or economic impacts hence limit the operations of NGOs (IMF, 1997).

Globalization has encouraged the NGOs’ goal on social change. The availability of information encourages civilization and leads to extinction of harmful beliefs and practices (Brown D. et al, 2000). For example, the availability of information has encouraged the empowerment of the youth and women. The flood of information encourages self-sufficiency, equal rights, and individualism which are the core values of the civil society. The channels of communication created by globalization also act as ways of creating awareness on social problems and natural disasters.

Globalization has had a profound impact on leadership and governance of civil societies. Globalization has enabled decision and policy making at both national and international levels. For example, it has influenced resource mobilization, response to identified problems, international dissemination and application of innovations and solutions, formulation of policies, norms, and values that guide operations, resolution of international conflicts, and collaboration with private sectors and other civil societies.

Globalization has created an impact on contracting and workforce trends. For example, remuneration in different nations varies according to categories of labor. Labor may be categorized according to the skills, education, or hours (Hulme D. & Edwards M., 1997).

Non-governmental and non-profit organizations operate across national borders and affect public policy. Globalization and improvement of technology have increased the effectiveness of these organizations. NGOs can effectively obtain and share information while the citizens of various countries can also easily interact........................GET A PLAGIARISM FREE COPY
