The word Islam means submission to Allah’s will. Islam is the youngest religion in the world since it began in the 7th century. They worship in mosques and their holy book is called the Quran. Islam was built from little beginnings to become a global force that once dominated the world.
On mount Hira, Gabriel the arch angel appeared to Prophet Muhammad. According to Muhammad, the angel grabbed his throat whereby he commanded him to spread the word of God. The prophet had difficult times in life and his wife Khadija was supporting him in every way (Najeebabadi 7). She had an immense faith in him and his actions. In 613AD, Muhammad began preaching in Mecca regarding the message received from the angel of Allah.
Muhammad began his message preaching by informing people that there exist only one God. According to him, the God is powerful and he freely visits his prophets with different messages. Muhammad told people that God is merciful and loving to all creatures of the earth. The Prophet acknowledged other prophets cited in Christianity like Jesus, Abraham and Moses. His preaching work was not easy since he made enemies with the Mecca traders whereby in 622 AD a plot of assassination was put in place (Najeebabadi 12). The issue saw the prophet escape to Yathrib which was 300 kilometers southwards. Yathrib was an oasis rich in all life provisions whereby its people welcomed the prophet.
