Employees in many organizations find it hard to retain the productivity levels if they are aware that they might lose their jobs. Relocation of organizations present numerous challenges to the management as well employees (McFarland, 2014). The management of any relocating organization ought to engage in careful interventions to avoid disrupting the operations of the company as well as employee motivation. This being a big change for my organization, I would have several concerns. Firstly, I would be worried about the places of stay for employees who will be willing to relocate with the organization. Additionally, I would be worried about the motivation of employees, both before relocation and after.
Maintaining employees in an organization when they are aware of a looming job loss can be a daunting task for any organizational manager. Some employees may get other job offers and therefore, may want to quit work as soon as possible. Furthermore, for others they productivity levels may go way down (Charisma on Command, 2015). To motivate employees to keep being committed. There ae several actions I will take. To begin with, I will communicate about the relocation as early as possible in order to allow the employees adequate time to think about it as well as reduce gossip about possible moving. Secondly, I will keep employees involved in the relocation process and request for their ideas about it, such as the package benefits, they expect for relocating. It is important to note that most employees would like to know where they would stay in case they relocate. I would give them a chance to suggest their options.
In addition, I will keep outlining the expectations of the organization to employees in order to remind them that they still need to deliver quality work. It is important to note that some employees can be carried away by the thought of relocation and fail to give their work the required attention. Some others can begin to neglect their duties owing to the fear of being retrenched.
