Nurse leaders have high-level responsibilities within the healthcare organization. Nurse leaders ensure that the nurse are focused on the long term vision of the healthcare. The roles of nurse leaders include policy development and making sure there is regulatory compliance. The laisser-faire management style employed by a nurse leader promotes the participation of other nurses in policy making and decision making (Pihlainen, Kivinen, & Lammintakanen, 2016).This style of management ensures that the input from junior nurses is taken into consideration.
The key leadership strategies of communication that were employed within the organization include active listening, transparency, emotional intelligence and asking proper questions. Nurse leaders must listen and understand emotions of other employees during the process of communication. Some of the barriers of effective communication and teamwork include cultural differences, physical disabilities, and physical barriers, use of complex terms, language differences and prejudice.
